Work of the Assembly
and the Secretariat

The Northern Ireland Assembly is the devolved legislature for Northern Ireland. We are responsible for making laws on transferred matters and for scrutinising the work of Ministers and Government departments.

History of
the Assembly

The Northern Ireland Assembly was established as a result of the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement, a long process of talks between the Northern Ireland political parties and the British and Irish governments.
